Today is the
15 day of March and Tim* has got no idea when his $358 salary for the month of
February will be paid. He’s worked for his present company for barely a month
and is currently fighting hard to win the favor of his boss. But something has
gone really wrong! He’s yet to get his first pay check. Recently he met a
friend who lent him $51 in order not to work on an empty stomach. It seems his
new job has plunged him into a financial mess. A few days ago, he questioned
his company’s accountant why he’s not been paid. Guess what? The accountant tried
to sound professional but Tim got a hint that his company’s bank account has
gone red!
This is
exactly the bane of remaining an employee. There’s no solution to this problem
because it’s always been there. The way out is to change your thinking because
you’re what you think! Noa
Mintz, a 15 year old makes more than enough money from her babysitting agency,
Nannies by Noa. Today she’s a mini mogul because of her thinking. She started
her business after she discovered that she had skill in helping people get
babysitters. What she simply did was to monetize the whole idea. The moment you
change your thinking you’ll discover that you can convert your avocation into
wealth. The moment you monetize your avocation you’ll do it better with visible
evidence of professionalism. Wealth isn’t far from you, but you become far from
wealth when you hold a strong employee mindset.
I recently
scolded a guy who goes about with a camera taking pictures of different persons
and sending them the pictures for free. His passion was photography, but his
thinking wasn’t in line with monetization. He spends a hell of time using
Photoshop and at the end send pictures for free. You’ve got to craft ways to monetize
your avocation. People naturally want to use your strengths to satisfy their
desires so learn to sell your interests. You may not be a big business owner as
prescribed by Robert Kiyosaki, but refusing to stay 100% employee pays. The
major advantage is that you get a reasonable measure of control of your income
and not wait until the day you receive your pay check before going to the mall.
