Afghanistan's intelligence agency said it had precluded an assassination attempt on
Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum in the Jawzjan province.
A suicide bomber who hid a bomb on the back
of a horse was meant to have carried out the assassination. The ploy used by
the bomber was to look like a harmless spectator and detonate the bomb during a buzkashi match.
