Cardinal Francis George, the sixth cardinal to lead Chicago's 2.3 million Catholics, has died after years of battling cancer. He was aged 78.
A group of Chicago Catholic priests received an SMS just after noon on Friday about Cardinal George's passing.
Francis George was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Francis J. and Julia R. He received his early education at the parochial school of St. Pascal Church in Chicago's Northwest Side
