An earlier report that a nine-month-old boy had tested positive after his death has called a mistake by the Sierra Leone government. This wrong report caused trepidation among villagers in the eastern district of Kailahun.
The National Ebola Response Centre (NERC) said that the "child in question is not an Ebola case as the sample in question is not from the child". Although it is not clear how the error emerged, villagers of Kailahun can now heave a sigh of relief over the dispelled fear of an ongoing Ebola transmission in Kailahun.
