THE TRIPLE STRINGS OF MARRIAGE

On Sunday I shared with you a content from an old high school note. Today I'm going to share another which I've christened 'The Triple Strings of Marriage'. Although it's been long that I wrote this short note I always draw fresh insights whenever I read it.

There are three things that must be strongly adhered to in marriage: leave, cleave, and become one flesh (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5).

Leave implies the breaking away from your parental ties. Cleave is the marriage itself. It must conform to societal standards in order for it to be legal. A woman playing 'house' with a man is not yet cleaved to that man because her act is strongly frowned against by the society. Become one flesh means intimate sexual relationship and the fulfillment of some important true love tests like: bed test, respect test, devotion test, and sharing test.

All these can be best experienced when you take as wife someone  a true  sense of womanhood. A lady with a true sense of womanhood is not only concerned about her outward beauty but also concerned about the beauty that comes from within. She is gentle, compassionate and tolerant.

DON’T MARRY OUT OF PITY!

On the night of December 20, 2006 I met a lady who had a very interesting conversation with me that lasted for hours. This conversation is one of the best I’ve had with ladies. I know you’ll agree with me after going through some of the words she said to me:

“It’s nice meeting you”

“I’m enjoying this discussion”

“What’s your best food?”

“You’re most spectacular guy I’ve ever met”

“When I fall in love, I fall crazily in love”

“If I love a guy, I’ll let him know, because I can’t keep the strong desire burning in me”

“We’ll live to remember this day”

“You’ve not said goodnight to me”

Gosh! An interesting conversation indeed and I know you would love to know what happened after that night: nothing more than a simple friendship. The mistake most people make is that they allow the obsession of a wonderful conversation grow so strong within them that they get stuck in a relationship which virtually ends in a marriage. The more obsessed one gets in a wonderful conversation with an opposite sex, the greater the propensity to get stuck in a relationship with that person. A wonderful conversation with an opposite sex is never a guarantee to a wonderful marriage with such a person.

Another mistake people make when making a decision of marriage is: marrying someone as a result of a surge of pity for that person. On August 5, 2010 a lady prayed earnestly to God concerning my personal needs without receiving a prayer request from me. She prayed earnestly to the extent that she burst into tears and even forgot to pray to God about her own personal needs. When I heard this I was marveled. I began to imagine how someone would put the interest of another above his or hers. The act of that lady is definitely one that can provoke favor, but making a decision to marry her as a way to show reward would be totally wrong! So in your search for a dream spouse wait patiently, believe firmly in God’s will and timing and use the power of focus and observation.

The reason why most people use the option of marriage as a reward to someone is that they have not learnt the art of touching the emotion of people deeply with surprises. Let your appreciation to someone not be predictable, always make surprises! This was exactly what I did to a lady on July 8, 2010 that made her appreciated me using the following words: “Leaves may forget the tree, waves may forget the sea… or even you may forget me, but I’ll never forget you because you’re very special to me! Thank you so much….” Those words came as a result of the surprise package I gave her. If I had not she would have just ended with a mere ‘thank you’.
